Refinish System

VOC-COMPLIANT AWX from Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. (SWAFC) is a waterborne basecoat/clearcoat system utilizing a proprietary resin system that behaves like the solvent-borne systems of today, says the company. AWX is designed to meet the strict VOC emissions limits in California and Canada, while adhering to the environmentally friendly guidelines that will be implemented throughout the Midwest and Northeastern United States. The premium AWX solution is designed to be productive and profitable for collision repairers to use. Its benefits include:
- a very fast drying waterborne basecoat;
- simple, compact toner line that is easy to mix;
- superior color match and blending properties;
- quick flash times between coats;
- sandable basecoat repairs quickly to remove imperfections;
- short bake clearcoats with seven to 10 minute cure cycles; and
- a blending process that produces consistent, mottle-free finishes.
With conversion eminent in several months, SWAFC says it is committed to providing waterborne solutions that not only improve the environment, but also help collision centers maintain profitability and productivity. Sherwin-Williams maintains one of the largest teams of company trained technical representatives and is currently adding training facilities to meet training needs of collision centers facing conversion.
