The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota (AASP-MN) has updated its slate of training for repair shop employees with management and technical training.
On May 6, AASP-MN will host “Alternative Fuels,” presented by Jim Simnick, technical advisor, BP Global Fuels Technology. The course will be held from 6:30-9 p.m., at Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis.
The course is a snapshot of a comprehensive fuel education program that will be launched by BP this summer. All content will relate specifically to how each fuel will impact automotive technicians and prepare them to answer the questions their customers will soon be asking about transportation fuel. The course will cover: • Gasoline 101 – A brief review of the basic properties of gasoline’s impact on automotive performance will be discussed. Covering this material is necessary to discuss the Biofuels and Alternative Energy topics in depth. • Biofuels – This portion of the seminar will cover recent developments in biofuels technology including ethanol, E85 and biodiesel. The discussion will also cover the properties of biofuels and their impact on automotive performance. • Alternative Energy – Popular forms of alternative energy will be discussed as they relate to automotive technology, including hybrids and hydrogen vehicles.
In addition to AASP-MN, this educational offering is supported by the Association’s 2008 Educational Partners — AKZO Nobel, Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA), Bill Smith Foundation, CARQUEST, DuPont Company, Federated Insurance, IDENTIFIX, Mitchell International, NAPA and P.P.G. Automotive Finishes.
