Permatex Inc. will introduce the 2008 edition of its new training initiative for student technicians during the 2008 National Automotive Technology Competition (NATC) finals, which will be held March 25 and 26, at the New York International Automobile Show in New York City.

The program launch will begin with a Permatex-sponsored breakfast meeting at the start of the event, and Jay Blake, Team Owner and Crew Chief for the Permatex sponsored Follow A Dream NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car Race team, will deliver a motivational address during the breakfast to kickoff the competition.

Permatex also will award the winning NATC Team with an “A Trip to the Races," which will allow the students to attend an actual NHRA event and work side by side with Jay Blake and his crew. In addition, Follow A Dream will display their NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car alongside the Permatex exhibit at the competition.

The primary focus of Permatex’s training program is to teach aspiring technicians the proper use and specific applications of Permatex chemical tools for gasketing, threadlocking and thread sealing available. Permatex makes the program available to accredited National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) schools at no charge.

To maximize effectiveness and make the training available to as many students as possible, the company has established a separate and dedicated staff of trained professionals, who will be responsible for setting up and conducting the training program on a regional basis.

Permatex’s NATEF program consists of a 60 minute in-class, hands-on training session, and is designed to fit classroom sizes from 30 to 50 students. It includes an instructor’s kit with lesson plan and training DVD, as well as product samples, applications charts, and product information literature for the student technicians.

Permatex will show future technicians how to save time, money, and prevent comebacks by choosing the right product for the job and applying it properly. The gasketing segment covers the basics of form-in-place gasketing and gasket sealing, while the threadlockers and retaining compounds portion shows technicians how to prevent parts loosening caused by vibration, leakage and corrosion.
