  • Federal-Mogul begins construction of new facility in India


    Federal-Mogul Corporation recently announced that it will be adding to the number of facilities it has built in India, with a new plant in Chennai, India, for the manufacture of friction components for Original Equipment and Aftermarket segments. The operation is scheduled to begin production of light vehicle brake and friction components, commercial vehicle and railway friction products by September 2009.

    New bill proposes insurance rates based on how, where and when Californians drive


    A new bill that would let insurance companies track when, where and how Californians drive passed the Senate Appropriations committee on Thursday. The bill, which detractors fear could be used to discriminate against drivers by ZIP-Code, authorizes different insurance rates for drivers who choose to protect their privacy and those who agree to place a black box in their cars.

    Dave Scribner joins Bosch Diagnostics Group


    Dave Scribner's 24 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket has earned him a place within the Bosch Diagnostics Group as senior product manager. Scribner comes to Bosch Diagnostics from Hunter Engineering Company, where he was an undercar product manager. He will be based in Ashland, Va.

    Cooper Tire & Rubber sales soar, but stock value drops


    Although Cooper Tire & Rubber Company posted a record $773 million in sales for the second quarter, the company's overall stock dropped 38 cents per share during the same period. According to company executives, the increased revenues were driven by pricing and improved mix partially offset by decreased tire unit volumes in North America.
