SOMS Technologies has introduced its microGreen" Extended Performance Oil Filter, enabling vehicles to operate up to 30,000 miles without an oil change. The patented microGreen oil filter has two filters in one standard spin on canister, which ensures that the oil stays cleaner, far longer. The microGreen technology reduces the use of oil by 70 percent and oil filters by 50 percent. This saves money while significantly decreasing the potential for improper disposal of these hazardous wastes and helps protect our environment, according to the company. While traditional oil filters capture the larger particles, between to 25-40 microns, in the engine oil, microGreens patented microfilter system captures particles down to 2 microns in size. This cleans the oil more effectively  improving the engine life and reducing vehicle maintenance costs, the manufacturer reports. Moreover, cleaner oil is better at reducing engine friction, which improves engine operating efficiency and therefore increases fuel efficiency.
